  How True!
Why don't WE artificially inflate the prices?Refuse to sell them cheap, tell
everyone how special they are all of a sudden there would be a demand for
them because people would think they are a good investment!Isn't that sort
of what the stock market does?Or homes in Beverly Hills? Is a home in BH
REALLY worth 10 to 20 times a home in the valley? Not really it is the
perception by a gullible public that makes it so.Is a new XK8 really a 12
times better car than our B's?Is a Miata really a 4 times better car?I think
not, if we collectively could give the impression that Mgs are a real
classic and sit on them and make people really want one.Look at the waiting
list for the new Boxter people will pay over MSRP for them just because they
want to be first to have one!I know this won't work but it is a thought. What
if all of a sudden we decided that rubber bumpers Bs were valuable,If all
you saw in the ads was $10,000 MGs!All you would need is for us to advertise
these cars at these prices, not seriuosly expecting to sell them but to get
the idea out there that thats what they are worth. We could start a feeding
frenzy like the classic car market in the 80s! I see $15,000 '65 Mustangs
and know they aren't really worth it but the mystique is they and a public
that thinks it's worth it so it is !I remember seeing and ad for a cherry 80
B in the LA times for $12,000 and thinking "he's got to be kidding"But maybe
we should hope he gets $12,000 for it! (end of ramble mode)
Pat 79 B ( $10,000 any takers?)
