Next time that happens, get someone to tap the solenoid on your starter while
trying to crank it.
This recently happened to my B, several times in fact, the first few times we
tapped it, it started, then, the starter just died, until we tapped it once
more, then the solenoid got stuck open and would continuously crank, and
removing the battery terminal being the onyl way to stop it, I eventually had
to catch it in gear, and drive it to my MG specialist. Just tap the solenoid
next time it happens, my situation was much like yours, it ran fine, then one
day, it stopped. I was lucky though and found a solenoid and starter for
