In response to the recent thread on cold starting, we had a cold morning
this morning(+4 F.). Between my 25 year old Midget, and my computer
controlled, fuel-injected, electronic ignitioned Chev. Beretta GT, guess
who was jump starting who. I'm sure anybody on this list knows where this
story is going, but my heart swelled with pride when the MG fired up, and
the NEW car wouldn't turn over (16 months into a 60 month battery). I did
find out that the Lucas generator system won't set the world on fire as a
jump starter, but it finally did the job. Even though I was running late, I
had to get a picture of the cars connected by jumper cables to hang in my
garage to look at the next time I'm halfway through a project, cursing
anything small and British. And for those who wonder why I didn't drive the
MG, it's an insurance thing, and it's not a good idea to combine 4 inches
of ground clearance and 10 inches of snow. Besides, I just can't bring
myself to expose it to the salt we have to wade through this time of year.
