Actually those square drivers are in the States. Apparently, they are common
on a lot of furniture. I have one that I bought about ten years ago to work
on a modular cabinet system that used those type of screws. I found the
driver at a very good hardware store in a suburb of Dallas. 

Your right, a screw stays on the end of one quite nicely.
