It sounds to me as though the rear wheel bearing oil seal is no longer
doing its job. If you look at the brake backing plate on either side, (
put your head where the differential is and look toward the wheel), you
will notice a small hole at the base of where the axle housing joins the
brake backing plate. If oil is leaking from there, it is because the oil
seal has failed. To replace the seal, you must remove the large hub
retaining nut, and pull the hub from the axle housing, using a gear
puller. While you are there, take a good look at the bearing. If
questionable, now is the time to replace it. If you have already
replaced the oil seal, and still have the leak; does the wheel bearing
fit snugly against the housing?( Is it a "press on" fit?) If not, then
the wheel bearing may have "spun" on the bearing surface of the housing,
and you may have some play there that keeps the oil seal from sealing
properly.
