Cheap? They usually run forever, and at $1000-2200 round here (In functional
shape), are a bit much to steal an engine from.
I can't remember the B-series engine ever being listed for Tractor use- I know
the TRiumph TR2-4 engine was, and I thought it was related to the Ferguson
engine (Standard-Triumph and all) but the B-series??? Fords used a flathead up
through the 50's it's not mentioned as such in Linsley Porters B-series engine
data book either... B-series design was derived from the Austin 1200 (A40
series), and has features of the pre-war Chevy "Stovebolt six".
So, what was used on Leyland Tractors, anyhow?
I'll have to take another look at the next Fergesun I come across.
