The advice I have seen on oil cooler sizes starts from the engine
size and is there already a cooler fitted, then asks how much higher
are you going to run the revs. The answer for a 1275 or 1500 midget
is usually the same at 13 row, assuming the the cooler is 330 mm
wide, with the union size at 1/2 BSP.
The same advice suggests you should also have a thermostat on the oil
cooler to prevent over cooling. This is probably based on some good
science from somewhere.
