I have two things to discuss today. First, my Midget is running warm.
When the temperature is above 80-85 degrees F, the temp. runs a good deal
higher than the thermostat temperature. I know the radiator is good, and
the block was just hot tanked about a year ago. I am assuming that this
problem is a result of the engine rebuild, during which time I put in
much higher compression pistons; before, the temperature was always
thermostat temp. and never more. So my question is, is there a
higher-capacity core that can be fitted to the late (x-flow) Spridget
radiator? I had my BMW's radiator recored from two rows to three, and
this completely solved a running-warm problem I had with that car.
Also in the cooling vein, does anyone know what size oil cooler a Midget
needs for relatively hard (but far from brutal) street/autocross use?
Cruising along on the highway at 4000-5000 rpm, the oil pressure sits at
55-60 psi for a while, then sinks to about 40. Reducing speed causes the
oil pressure to move back up; I assume, therefore, that the oil is getting
a bit hot.
In an unrelated issue, I have noticed that a number of messages to the
list are not addressed to mgs@autox.team.net, but rather
mgs%autox.team.net@aphub.aerojet.com or something like that. I am
assuming that someone on the list has to address their mail this way to
get past a firewall or something, then people reply to his/her postings
using the "reply to all recipients" option. This causes mgs messages to
get filtered to my personal inbox instead of my mgs folder, which is how
I noticed it. Mind you, I'm not complaining, but it wouldn't surprise me
if aphub.aerojet.com (or whatever it is) didn't eventually balk at
carrying quite a few such messages.
Thanks for any and all help!

CCSO probably thinks I'm working right now. What do you suppose they think
I'm saying?
