Sounds like your supply line between the tank and the pump is leaking air.

Subject: Fuel pump keeps on clicking

The fuel pump on my '57 MGA never stops clicking. I just recently bought
this car, so I don't know if this was always the case or not.

The pump seems to work just fine. When the ingnition is turned on it clicks
fast, then very quickly slows to a constant click of about 1/sec. I don't
think the click rate ever changes after that. The float chambers are OK,
needles are new, no gas from the overflows, and no leaks in the fuel line as
far as I can see/smell.

I'm thinking that it should stop after initially filling the float chambers.
Yes/No??? Should it keep clicking like this or is there a problem?

Thanks for any advice.
