Try to get a copy of "Maintaining the Breed" by (the late) John Thornley.  It
is now in print again in the sixth printing I believe.  Every M.G. owner
should at least read this book if not own a copy.  Mr. Thornley was the third
(?) Managing Director of M.G..  
I think Donald Healry was having some fun or he was just passing on that
story by mistake.
Or for those who are more visually oriented there is a new video out that I
just bought called "Inside the Octagon".  It does an excellent job telling
the early M.G. story.  It contains long interviews with John Thornley and
Jean Kimber Cook and some rare film of early MGs on the track.  You can
e-mail me personally for the address so this won't sould like I'm connected
with this venture.  (BTW, I'm not, I just like the video)
