Hi Gary,,,

Take one of those magnetic business cards with you.. the floppy kind....

check carefully for adhesion to "metal" along the sills, the rear dogleg
behind the doors, the lower rear part of the front fenders in front of
the doors. Feel up above the front wheels and a little back, there is
a ledge up there, just under the fender, where mud and salt collect and
cause a good rust out..., look up at the front of the sills, where the
front fender joins it..... and check with the magnet below the
tailights.. these are the primary rust prone area, besides the floors,
crawl under with a flashlight and poke well with a key on suspect spots on
your test drive....

Look for two body seams, one 2/3rds of the way back on the sills under
the doors, another just to the left..? (someone correct me if I oops
here) of the fuel filler cap... if these are visible, the car has less
filler than many....

push down the fenders, if a good set of shocks, it will not budge but a
1" or so,,, but for a well driven car with 34 years on it..... those are
decent figures for a good complete runner that doesn't look too shabby
from 25' away...,

Oh,.... get it up to speed, see how much the wires shake at 70MPH, ,
check oil pressure see how fast it climbs and what it runs at at an idle
when you finish a test drive. Turn it off, then back on, see how the oil
pressure behaves... if the guage doesn't stick that is...

Happy hunting..
