This is a comment to Bill Beamon with regard to his "8-speed" tranny.

The reason for the 3rd-4th gear lockout switch is not merely to
prevent the OD from being engaged in reverse, but also to prevent such
engagement in 1st and 2nd gear. This is because the little bitty star
gears cannot handle the torque. I have seen warnings that the OD
should not be used at all with hi-test (e.g.m V8) engines. Bottom
line: If you do engage it in 1st or 2nd, be very gentle, else you can
transform your OD into a very expensive do-it-yourself kit.

Also, with respect to the in-line fuses--one is for the windshield
wiper/washer, the other is for the alleged "anti-run on" valve that
usually doesn't work because you have a hole in a hose somewhere. By
my best exploration, it runs absolutely nothing else. (Other reasons
the valve doesn't work: The connector pins on the top have been
smashed, or the little plastic pipe that the hose to the
intake manifold connects to has been broken off.)
