Fortunat: You give your locale as "NY area". I, too, am from
"NY area"-that's Rochester NY to be specific. Anyway, I would
suggest if the hinge pockets on the pillars are rotten, the sills
may also be suspect. But, first, fix the hinge pockets. As you
know, Vic Brit sells the pillar or just the lower pocket. You will
also want the outer skin. Porter and Taylor both cover the replacement.
I've done the lower pockets on my '72 midhet. Not hard, but, tedious.
I replaced the curb side sill due to accident damage, but, kept the
the driver's side sill in place. You are close enough to get to the
Import Carlisle in May. You won't be sorry. Look us up. For sure
you'll find seatframes there.
Roger (RLDesign) is correct about the seams in the sills...of an MGB.
However, the sills on the spridgets are smooth sided. Only a hole
for the jack point(s).
Let me know if I can be of any further assistance, that is, if
I have been of any, yet.
