I believe this is the old Allison unit in a new box. If so, it seems to
be held in lower esteem than the MSD.

I have run a MSD 6A for about 10 years in my V8 roadster, very happy
with it. Available at the mail order sources like Jeggs & Summit around
$125.00.

I have about a year & 30,000 miles on a Jacobs system in the other V8,
works very well. Hard to tell if it is better than the MSD, costs twice
as much. If you try the Jacobs, don't buy the plug wires. The outer
insulation is very soft & cuts easily.

With any of these systems, you need a good coil, I use a Lucas Sport
coil with the MSD. Also, they are only effective if you open the plug
gap. Start at .050 & go up from there. I wound up at .055 with the MSD,
.060 with the Jacobs.

Results are better milage, small increase in power, can use 87 octane at
9: 1 compression, 8 degrees initial advance, NO ping.
Ran 10.75 : 1 with the MSD & 93 octane for years with no ping or
detonation.
