Hello Folks..sorry for the long winded message.
Well I installed the Moss rear seal conversion on my 54 Tf XPAG only to
refit her in the car and have her blow al the oil past the seal..seems
some of the motors have cranks that have "shorter" rear surfaces which
when installing the seal kit even with a speedy sleeve in place allow
the seal to run off the (inside of the block) side of the sleeve and or
crank surface. One fellow told me to install the speedy sleeve so as to
"hang" it off the inside edge of the crank whereby lengthening that
surface however my machinist says that's a deadly approach as the seal
will eventually "cut" the speedy sleeve resulting in a complete
failure.. My thought was to simply machine a spacer between the end of
the crank shaft and the flywheel thus moving the flywheel aft slightly
(perhaps 1/8" would do it) which would then allow flywheel clearance to
shim the Moss seal also slightly aft to meet the sleeved surface of the
crank properly. anyone's thoughts and experiences are greatly
appreciated.
