Douglas,

1) The screw heads should be painted black. Not left chromed or painted
bronze.

2) The seat rails were originally zinc plated, not painted.

3) I haven't worked on a RHD in 40 years. I've got a good memory. It's just
short.

Cheers,
Lew Palmer

Hi listers

1. I have got a new set of the little screws that bolt the centre TD
metal instrument panel to the dashboard. They are chrome. My question
is: should they remain chrome or be painted the bronze panel colour?

2. What colour should the seat floor rails be - the rails that the
bottom seat squab slides back and forward on. In the TD restoration book
they look light grey - but that could just be primer. Mine are a sort of
red colour, but the car had been heavily butchered over the years.

3. To get the rubber pedal gaiter to fit in RHD drive cars you have to
cut a corner out the front left to fit round the piece of the metal
transmission cover that sticks out on the right hand side, and also cut
a corresponding section out of the metal hold down plate. I have done
this and it looks OK, but I was wondering if there were originally
different gaiters for RHD and LHD cars. The transmission cover does not
have the sticky-out bit on the left so I guess then standard Moss gaiter
would fit right in on LHD cars.

Cheers
