Putting it out under taprs can be very bad due to the standard blue tarps do
not breath and they let the moisture build up on the car. Try to get a good
breathable top or I might just leave it uncovered. Try and find some way to
make air circulate under the tarp. I am just putting up a BGT that has surface
rust. I sanded most of it off and sprayed rustoleum rust covering spray paint
and it is already starting to surface rust again. I was trying to do the same
exact thing as you (buying time). The parts I covered with Eastwood's corrosion
blocker (formerly corroless) are in great shap. The lesson to me was clear, I
have more of thier product on order. It is more expensive but......

Hi All:
Heaving gotten the wheels to turn finally, I now
face the winter season with thecar outin the open. I
have been keeping the car under tarps every winter to
"protect" it but discover that rust is starting to
form under the paint my dad painted the car to suprise
me with. It was his first and only attempt to spray
paint a car and it was a disaster. What sugestion do
the list have for surface treetment? Come Spring I
will have the time to work on the car and restore it
as I will be retired (I hope)?
I did think of sanding it down and painting it with
rustolien or one of the other anti rust paints as a
temperary fix until spring. TIA
Andy
