Tim,
I've just been through overhauling the brakes on my '49 TC. Almost the
same situation as yours. My first step was to fix the rear axle oil
leak that caused the problem in the first place. And on reassembly I
discovered a wheel cylinder was leaking. I send all the cylinders to
White Post Restorations in Virginia, USA. They have an excellent
reputation here. Check their web site at
http://www.whitepost.com/brake.html. They are probably a little too far
away from you, but it will give an idea of what is involved. You should
be able to find a similar service in Oz.
Don't know about your rear shoes, though. Sounds like you may have the
wrong shoes and they are too small. Is there any way you can check?
Are the front shoes the same size? They should be.
Regards,
Charles Hill
