I agree with the recommendations to go with Stayfast over vinyl. I have
never regretted spending the money to replace a perfectly good (and very high
quality) grained vinyl top with a Robbins Haartzcloth on my TD. But, I'd
like to share my experience: It's been on the car about 20 years. I went
with black because it matched the (incorrect) black interior I got in a box
and installed. However, it does fade and change color eventually where it
gets stretched over the bows and also somewhat at "rub points" if you keep it
folded down
for years and years. The black material gets grey-ish and lighter where the
color changes. On tan, this is barely noticeable. Generally, my observation
is that the the tan tops do get lighter (and more "correct", if that is
important to you) over time. There are other sources besides Moss (although
I'm satisfied with the top and curtains I got from Moss). I'd check TSO and
maybe even do an internet search. Moss is mass marketing and I have seen
tops far superior to mine out there. Finally, I found the cloth top to be
much easier to stretch and install then
my experience with vinyl (on an MGB). Don't buy vinyl!
