FWIW: Placing a fuse in the lighting circuit after the switch does help. However the wire coming from the A1 terminal of the regulator to the switch is not protected. Neither are the brown wires coming off the ignition switch or the wires going to and from the dynamo. All of these are susceptible to short circuiting.
