Jim,
  Are you sure you really want to do this?
  There's a screen on the fuel line in the fuel tank, another at the base
of the SU pump, and another at each banjo joint at each carb.   Modern
filters are excellent, and worth having in most carbs, but for the SU
carb that has a .090 jet they aren't necessary.  You can clean the float
bowls easily, and a clog in the jet is removed by revving the engine and
slapping the palm of your hand over the mouth of the carb.   The lines
are copper, by the way.
  If you really need to install a filter, I would hang it in the loop of
fuel line under the tank so that it's out of sight.  It's probably 5/16
inch I.D. hose you need.  If you don't have a calipers, set the jaws of a
vice-grip so that they just slide onto the line, then measure the gap.
