Need some advice, suggestions, please. I wish to repack my front wheel
bearings of my 1951 MGTD MKII. Probably long overdue since the car now
has about 14,000 miles on it and the bearings have not been repacked
since restoration in 1980 (I have only owned the TD for 15 months, but
have put on 9,000 of those miles).
Today I removed the front hubs, then removed the oil seals. Now how do I
extract the inner, outer and spacer bearings? Looking at the diagram in
the Moss catalog, there appear to be ridges in the hub for positioning
the various bearings, therefore the bearings cannot be shoved through
from one side to the other. They have to be pulled out from the center.
The workshop manual shows a special tool for pulling out the inner
bearing. Not having any such tool, what is the recommended procedure for
remove the inner, outer and spacer bearings?
If there are any special guidelines on packing and greasing various
parts of the axle, hub and bearings, I would appreciate knowing about this.
Thanks
