Ray,
If you are interested, I have made a couple of electronic regulators
(cutouts) which exactly replace the relay in the J2 cutout. I don't know
whether the relay is the same between the J2 and the M cutout, but I've put
the photo of the relay and its modern replacement here:

Let me know if you are interested. Otherwise, I can send you the
instructions for making your own.
Cheers,
Lew Palmer

Subject: copper oily things
Hi Guys,
Sorting out the instrument panel in the M has given rise to a question:
Where
is the proper hole/routing of the oil pressure line?
The old repro panel had the OP gauge opposite the correct location, and when
I
installed the original panel, the line doesn't reach...so a new line has to
be
installed. The old line passes through the same hole as the wiring harness
and had to be cut and soldered to put it in position. I don't think MG
would
have done that!
Also, has anyone had problems using the modern Optima battery with the old
cutout system roasting the battery, or do you recommend a hidden regulator?
The car gets driven so this is important!
So how about it?
Best,
Ray
