Don,
Congrats on your first 10 blocks. I've run across the reverse
problem and solved it completely by using a slightly thicker gasket
under the remote control. (This raises the selector and allows it to
clear the reverse gate) I've also experienced a very similar electrical
problem with my J2 although I never saw a major discharge or heat
buildup. At any rate, I get the warning light to go out when the ign is
switched off simply by tapping the starter switch. Changing the
position of the armature seems to solve the problem. Maybe one of the
electrical wizards out there can explain how this happens? Seems to me
that I also had the identical problem in the L2 but only once.
Cheers,
Chris Nowlan

Subject: Good news -bad news on PA first drive
Hello all,
Good _news: Drove_ (news: Drove) PA 1823 approx. 10 blocks under her
own power for the first time in (at least) 30 years.
Bad news: Car refused to go into reverse, drove like a pig all over the
road, had to grab hand brake to stop... even after adjusting.
Went switch off after drive and PLC switch seemed to go into reverse.
Turned key off and low rev lamp went on. Turned key back on and low rev
went off.
Reached under the dash and switch was physically hot and meter showed
full 20 amp dead discharge. Quickly pulled battery lead off.
20 minutes later I went back to garage and all worked as normal.
Any ideas?... 24 hrs. before leaving for MG 2006.
