Bud,
In addition to Terry's suggestion to have Jerry Felper overhaul your Rotax
dynamo, there is another comparatively simple solution that allows you to
fit a dynamo, generator or alternator of your choice. You will need to keep
the Rotax as you still have to drive the camshaft but you can remove the
field coils, the armature brushes and the 3rd brush mechanism if you wish.
There's always a market for things like that.
After you've decided how many amps you need to generate you have to find a
suitable unit, a voltage regulator with a cut-out and a place to mount it
all. A MMM chassis doesn't give you too many choices but it could go in the
front and be direct or belt driven off the crankshaft, or in the back and be
belt or chaiin driven off the prop' shaft. Think about it, nothing is
impossible. However, I'd talk to Jerry first.
Cheers and the Compliments of the Season, "Bob".
