Scotty,
It is interesting because my J2 has "4332GR" stamped at the bonnet hinge, just
only one car between yours and mine!
However my car has chassic number J4302, not J4332. The original colour of the
car J4302 was red, which is known from original log book. So sometimes in the
past someone swapped the bonnet to J4332 one?

Perhaps the assembly methods changed on later cars and they no longerneeded to
identify the bonnets, hence no numbers and colors?

Dave,
my J2 is #4330 and the bonnet hinge has the car number and color
'GR'stamped on it. It is a November 1933 production car and only 101 cars before
the end of production, which includes the seven cars made in Jan 1934. Perhaps,
the standard color of Black for the body was not stamped on the hinge and only
the optional colours of Green, Blue and Red 'were' stamped on the hinge. [ How
did they identify Black and Blue? ]
Any one out there with an original black or Blue car who can verify this?
Inquiring minds need to know.
