The seat should always be attached to the roll cage as one unit. You, the
seat and the roll cage staying all together has proven to be the safest way
to protect the driver. The rest of the car can fly away for all I care but I
want to be sitting inside that seat inside the cage when it comes to a stop.
And yes, been there, done that.
