Hey I'm all for the small guy, I'm a small guy trying to build a small
streamliner on a tight budget. I really feel for those Chassis Engineering
guys because they've had their thunder stolen by the corporate. They haven't
been beaten, in point of fact as you rightly say they're the winners. First
over 300mph, 2wd and a small single engine. The trouble is with any corporate
enterprise not only do they have the money to recruit specialist help and
out-source the work but they can hold sway with the media enough to spin the
result however they want. They were always going to shout about British
engineering to the press in the exact same way we always hear the phrase,
'using technology developed for the space program.'
Who cares?
I'm going to go back to my workshop and plug away on my own, when I have time,
money and inclination to do so and hope that after a few thousand hours of joy
and frustration I can wheel something out capable of joining the party!
Meantime, you guys should go ahead and build the fastest most sophisticated
diesel on the planet for tuppence ha'penny, I'm in your corner and I'm glad
your cage has been rattled!
John, (Dodging Leprechauns)
