Keith, Rick Byrnes and I, like you visited the many of the same people. The
group at Fire Fox said we had just missed you and Joe. We would have liked
to have crossed paths...

At the end of the day, Butler is building the vette a new seat with rap
a-round head support, shoulder support and extended leg support. I was
impressed most by their box tube head support. Most others used a single on
edge plate to provide lateral strength. Although they are plenty strong, I
guess I felt the box design would take more punishment from off angle loads
before deforming... well, probably just paranoia at its best, but you never
know... I also was fitted for a HANNS device as Bob said he did not know
when his would be available. Bob stated his prototype was out for testing
and they were awaiting the availability of a properly sensor'd dummy...
(Note: Rick offered me up but I'm missing the sensors so Bob reluctantly
declined...that's what true friends are for... :)

One other interesting occurrence: while Rick and I were being fitted for the
Hanns, Don Garlits walked up and watched the Hanns rep. explain the fitting
process and proper application to us... I have to admit I was a bit taken
back... I guess it's true that the best-of-the-best never give up trying to
improve the technology and safety of our sport...

I spoke with Randy Lajoi.... Butler, Kirkey and one other I can't
remember...

Bob Stroud is about to come out with a new Hans type device that looks
interesting... it's a back board with head supports.... it comes out of the
car behind you as you exit... haven't seen pictures yet but I've talked to
him about it and I'm hopeful that it will work in the Berkeley..... the
Camaro just needs a Hans device and seat....
