The comment with the sponsor was very close - it was Firestone tire who was not
interest to make all the photo shooting for the advertisment again.
Otherwise the car was not so super stabil as it looked from the outside.
Also all the runs and rent of the salt was paid from the sponsors, the Summer
brothers was deep in the debt after the record - the money they pushed in this
project was a lot and the repay need them years - the hot rod company they runs
was enough for living but never so that it was the big profite runner - later
Bill start to show the car at motor shows and exhibitions - the one at Goodwood
England some years ago was another big lost due to this that the car was too
late back from England by custom problems.
Another point was, that the engines was modified by Bob and Bill but owned by
the Chrysler company - after the record the engines went back to the Chrysler.
At last, the conditions at the salt in 1965 was not perfect to run - may be the
car was good for another +20 mph, but therefore the condition had to better
than in 1965.
The other thing was that the Summers brothers used the gap during the time
Firestone "rent the salt" for Art Arfons and the Green Monster and he didn't
run.
So it was a bring the car to the salt and run....
