Was chewing the fat yesterday with Sparky and a question popped into my
head... Goldenod was highly successful in recapturing the land speed record
way back when. So why did the racing with this car stop? Most everybody I
know continues to race until they cannot do it any longer. So why did the
SUmmers Bros quit trying to up the record? Sparky's guestimate was that
Chrysler had fronted the engines and they did not want to take a chance on
something happening to take away the blush of glory that come with breaking
the record.
Anybody know the real story?
