Scott,

In most cases, age does not make a part less serviceable, if it was a 
good part to start with. The engine we ran last year used a stock 302 
crank that was manufactured in 1969 and used Carrillo rods from the 
'70s. When the runs on the engine were added up, it ran over 250 miles 
at full throttle, and is still ready to go.

Most of my racing career has been spent running other peoples junk 
because I couldn't afford the new stuff. Being able to buy good stuff 
does put the odds in your favor, but does not guarantee no breakage.

I suspect that there was a cause for the camshaft breakage. I would 
investigate why it broke.
