LOL!!
Yes, my conscience struggles (you know how we Californians are).
Lead it be! I have a ton of it laying around.
Thanks much!

Dana;
"Politically correct" solder is a pain. Use good ol' Ersin 63/36 rosin core
solder and save yourself the grief of trying to clean off the monkey puckey
flux.

Subject: Soldering
Hi all,
This was prompted by Neil's discussion ...
I've soldered my MegaSquirt EFI board, and noticed small white "blooms"
emanating from the soldering site. They don't dissolve in rubbing alcohol
(with an acid brush).
Solder: 96/4 Silver solder (no-lead) from Radio Shack (expensive)
Flux: Ruby Flux (paste in a yellow can)
Iron: Weller soldering station (non-adjustable) with fine pencil tip
I solder on the backs of the board (trace is on top). The blooms spread out
from the solder joint radially and look like a hard crystallized compound. I
didn't test for water solubility, but I will.
I've never seen this before.
Thought this would be an interesting thread.
