Well Dave your absolutely correct in theory. It's provable mathematically.
However when you put the plan to practice it don't always work as planed. And
since many Bonneville classes are limited to specific body styles and no wings
we have to adapt and ballast is thee best way to go. If your building a
Streamliner you have a lot more leeway to experiment. Most Corvettes and
Firebirds don't have that luxury.

You might but then you might not either.. :>)
If adding weight makes a car faster why isn't the fastest car the heaviest
one.
And following that thought if you want to go faster why open the hood, just
add
more weight.. maybe picking a body style that has the least lift is
smartest..
If you already have that then petition the rules for something that will kill
lift and make the car safer..
