The Real Douglas AirCraft co. wouldn't let us use the liquid type because of the danger of contamination to the hyd. fluid if someone got sloppy and over used it. We used the liquid type on test set ups etc. But most of the old Vickers and Douglas workers took pride in how we did things and the neatness of the tape would show. I use both today depending on where the fitting is going, plus it's easier to clean up. I guess being somewhat old fashon I still like to torque and be sure. I realize 90 deg. fittings require a little more care in location of the leg. 90 deg. swivels work great there.. Years back I used to do all of my fuel lines in stainless hard lines. I did the 1st Enderle port and head in all stainless lines. I did a lot of Don Long cars at that time. They look bitchen polished. I always had a set of hoses as a back up for my cars just in case a hard line got screwed up at the races. It isn't that difficult, folks. |
