Bottom-line... 1/2 the RECIPROCATING weight!   With a lighter valve you can 
have a more aggressive cam profile (more area under the curve) or more rpm 
or BOTH.   All the good things Dave mentioned are true but the lighter 
weight is what makes it happen reliably.   -Elon
