Okay I got up an hour ago cause I just couldn't stand it any more.... had to
see.... here is what I found....
On the spread part of the rod there are long grooves on the inside of the H
beam.... which just so happen to fit the size of the cam lobe... Hmmm and
it's spread on the inside edge closest to the cam....
The Thorington bearing came out in pieces.... as did the front of the cam
which apears flat but smoothed by it rotating against the broken back half
of the cam. The cam was actually broken in three major pieces the center of
which dropped down into the oil pan.... it contained two lobes which seem to
be 2nd and third lobes back from the front of the block...
The #1 piston was turned sideways in the bore and came out with little
effort... no damage other then where the piston had hit the valves pockets
and then along the crown as it turned sideways... but those were light
hits... the wrist pin looks fine...
