Just carries heat off the bearings ??? Yikes Batman I thought that was what we were trying to do..In order to run the correct pressure you need the correct amount of flow in gallons per minute. The flow is controlled by the bearing clearances vs. pump size and drive speed. The pressure is controlled by the pump bypass. The only way to reduce flow is to either make the pressure less or tighten clearances. This seems simple at first and in a perfect world easy to do. just make them 1/2 what they were and reduce the flow by 50%.. Unfortunately parts distort under load and rod housing bores are not round anymore. Bearings are made eccentric for this reason. as far as the cooling goes how long do you think your engine will run if low on water or very low on oil at 8000 rpm??
