Dave;
I suppose you are right; for some reason those -12 heads seem to me marketed
towards the alcohol engine. Tom reported good results with them on gas so
that lends credance to your position.
I already bought a Fel- Pro sequential DFI setup earlier this year from a
fellow at Southwest Research Institute. I think he was doing some dyno
testing there but he wouldn't say much about what they were doing except it
was "engine testing." After I get some experience with DFI, I'll keep your
Motec system in mind if I decide to upgrade.
Yes, the butterflies are 2 7/16" on the Kinsler (Crower) mechanical
injection. It looks like the stacks could be machined for EFI injectors
without too much trouble. EFI certainly is a more attractive setup than the
original constant- flow mechanical injection. I'll need to check the
rulebook on EFI.
My 355 sprint car engine was supposedly dyno'ed at 720BHP on alcohol but I
don't know at what RPM or what its torque was. I take the BHP figure with a
grain of salt but it sounds like it might be about right. The car's driver
said that engine was "a good horse."
It sounds like that driver who complained that your engine was "too
responsive and came on too
quick" needed more driving skill than anything. Most drivers want more
power, more power, and even more power!
