Does your bore guage need to be calibrated with a ring gauge to read the
bore diameter directly? I've seen them but I thought that maybe they only
read the relative +/- bore, such as indicating the cylinder roundness or
taper unless they were calibrated with a setting ring calibration standard.
I'll have to look at those Enco gauges.

Keith I bought a cheap dial bore gauge out of Enco and I have been well
satisfied
with it. I have checked it against other high dollar gauges and it is good.
