Hi all, My son brought over the Dodge history book yesterday. Here is what I
made of it after a quick look. Dodge Bros. introduced a roadster model in
1915 with a 110 inch wheel base. The wheel base jumped to 114" in 1916. In
1921 the rear fenders get longer. Halfway through 1922 the radiator and hood
are raised. 1924 saw the wheel base increased to 116" with the radiator hood
and cowl line raised again. The pictures show almost a level line from the
radiator across the hood, over the cowl to the rear of the bucket. There is
a small slope to the turtle deck and the rear fenders tops are 2 or 3 inches
lower than the deck. In 1926 the deck changes to a rounder shape more like
the A and B Fords. Previously the deck looked more like a 23 T but higher up
on the bucket (23 T shaped but placed like a 27 T). 1927 saw the
introduction of a rumble seat deck lid. 1928 shows the change from 4 to 6
cyl eng. 1931 stretched the W B to 118" and a straight 8 eng. 1933 shows a
major style change much like the 32-33 Ford change and is the last year the
book shows a picture of a roadster. From then on it appears they made
convertibles. If what you have is really a 1924 it looks like a good deal
for street roadster. The hood looks higher and longer (remember the 3'
longer than stock limit) than a T. The rear fenders, while appearing to be
about the same relationship to the deck as a T, appear higher overall as the
deck is higher on the bucket. Mind you this is all based on side view
photos, you would need to see a rear view to really check the rear fender
mounting. It might be worth the trouble to find a restored 24 and make a
mould off the fenders. Hope this helps.
