possible&nbsp;cause is the timing is too far advanced. Are you able to =
check the&nbsp;timing at the point of backfire? Has any work to the valve =
train been done prior to the backfiring? I would suggest resetting&nbsp;all=
 of the valve clearances.

the carbs, HD8's. We have adjusted the timing &amp; enrichened the carbs. I=
 plan to revisit both of those settings. What else might be causing this?=
