Is it backfiring or spitting? Backfire in a carburetor occurs when the =
air-fuel mixture ignites at the wrong time, often causing flames to =
shoot out of the carburetor. This can happen due to issues like a rich =
fuel mixture, incorrect timing, or vacuum leaks. Spitting is ejecting =
oil thru the carb. At least that is true for my HS4 carbs.

A club member's BJ8 is backfiring thru the carbs, HD8's. We have =
adjusted the timing & enrichened the carbs. I plan to revisit both of =
those settings. What else might be causing this?

Thanks,
