I replaced the choke cables with teflon-lined bicycle cable housings substituting the original solid wires for the multi- strand bicycle cables. Installed set screws at front and back of each cable which hold the housings in place when the cable is operated. Therefore when the choke is pushed in, the levers are fully seated.
