Joseph,
Copper (pure) has the disadvantage that it hardens when stressed 
(repeated braking) which can lead to fatigue cracking. I have heard 
about such occasions once or twice.
It is also the reason that in some countries it is illegal in automotive 
brake applications to use pure copper lines.
I am surprised that apparently  the T|V accepts this.
