That happened to me last summer. With my brother in the car and on the way
to the British Car Day south at Salisbury, NC on two-lane NC 150, I had just
merged behind two other cars. A minute later I saw the lights in the rear
view mirror. A NC highway patrolman pulled me over, and with a smile about
to split his face he said he needed to give me a "warning" ticket for
speeding -- still behind the two cars I had merged with. After he looked
the Healey over, he gave me the ticket which meant nothing. Only "warning"
ticket I ever received, and my brother couldn't believe we had been stopped
for that.

I think it happened in Kansas in '02 on the way to Open Roads at Lake Tahoe.
The Council Grove city policeman claimed "he couldn't get in touch with
anyone at the NC DMV to run my plate" so he couldn't give me a ticket (for
26 mph in a 20 zone). ???

Great first time out story. Now just wait until the time you get
pulled over by the police so they can check out the car. I know
several people that have had this happen it at first it is a real
scare, you start looking at the speedo and all the rest check to see
what you have done wrong. Only to find out the the officer just want
to check out a nice car.
