Perhaps you could hook up with Steve Pike over at Marsh and discuss what can
be done to bulletproof the box. I assume you have a set of straight cut
gears in front of you. I have watched Pike prepared racers a number of
times and never saw one out of a race due to a gearbox :-)
Of course it may be a distance from you his shop is over in Victoria.

I am overhauling a BJ7 gearbox for a friend. I know it is a BJ7 box as it
has the loose needle rollers in the main shaft but it has had steel syncro
rings as per a BJ8 fitted. They are in perfect condition, so my question is,
can I leave them in or do they need to be replaced with brass. The car is
being built as a rally replica and will probably see some competition work.
