After months of searching for the cause of charging problems and dead
batteries for no apparent reason I decided to take Norman Nock's
advise and install an ammeter on my BN2. IN the last year I have
installed a new harness, generator, regulator , battery and cables .
My new ammeter showed the charging system to be functioning as it
should and all seemed well until I was running up and over the hills
to the coast and suddenly as I was engaging the overdrive the ammeter
pinned to - 25 amps . The secondary winding on the overdrive solenoid
was the cause of the short all along and I would still be scratching
my head if I had not installed the ammeter. As Norman Nock says in
his tech talk book "the ammeter does not lie . If you want to know
what your charging system is really doing install one and find out ."
If you have charging problems don't tear your hair out install an
ammeter.I put mine on the parcel shelf, the bracket fit the screws
that hold down the fresh air cable bracket, so nothing need be
altered. Cheers Jonathan 56 BN2
