Thanks for the great story, Bill. I usually wear a hat when I'm in the
Healey with the top down. Luckily, my hair is kind-of low maintenance...long
and
"undone" so I don't have to carry hair spray or tease it back into shape. Just
a brush will do.
I felt the same kinda rush at my 20th reunion when I arrived in my 1971
Jaguar E-Type V12 - but disappointed when only a couple of guys had a clue what
it
was (class of '79). Of course, no one else drove anything of interest. The
best part of it was actually "crashing" the thing....I waited until the rubber
chicken banquet was over before arriving, and then mingled with everyone at the
after-dinner (and speeches) socializing, dancing, etc. The next day, we had
a picnic for the classmates and their families at a local park, and I drove
it again. They liked it alright, but probably would hae been more impressed if
it was an old
'American muscle' car instead of a LBC ..... but then again, our high
school was known as "Redneck Tech." I wonder what they would think of my BJ8.
Oh well, you don't get to choose where you go to school when you grow up.
Sounds like your motorhead classmates are a wee more sophisticated than mine.
