Hi Mike,
When you mention timing being off causing broken rings and (previously)
cranks, etc. How far off are you thinking?

Pinging all the time or a slight ping, like you get starting off uphill from
a stop sign on a hot day? Is any ping acceptable at all, no matter how
infrequent?

I've got mine timed to 15@800 & 35 degrees maximum advance and it seems to
work fine without any pinging.

FWIW--checking with the colortune--I had to set mine at the end of the scale
on the rich side to get it to run right. Colortune bunsen blue resulted in a
lot of backfiring going downhiee.

Just curious as to your opinion on this.
